65 million years – that’s how far back the history of the walnut goes. It has its origins in the Tertiary period, in the Middle East. It was only in Roman antiquity that it found its way across the eastern Mediterranean to Europe - and ultimately to the Moselle. Early in the morning you can see locals and tourists stretching up to the walnut tree to pick the popular nut. It is an experience in itself to remove the shell from the nut layer by layer and peel off the thin skin until you can finally enjoy the white fruit. A delight for the palate - so aromatic, fruity and spicy.

From this enjoyment potential, we have created four delicious walnut products with love, careful selection and gentle processing.
The nut adorns the broad, impressive crown of the deciduous tree. It is approximately 4.8 cm long and 3.8 cm wide and can be round, oval, cylindrical, egg-shaped or beak-shaped. Encased in a soft green shell, it appears rather inconspicuous at first glance. The hard brown shell underneath isn't exactly spectacular either. But once it's cracked, you come across the beige-white heart: the walnut.
At the end of September to mid-October the time has come: the walnuts are ripe! A large fruit has grown in the core and completely fills the hard brown shell. Then there are no limits to your imagination: finely nutty and slightly buttery, the walnut is a real treat for the palate! And versatile too: whether in cake or as ice cream, in bread or as brittle, as a whole nut or processed into oil - the beige-white fruit is a true all-rounder for dishes of all kinds.
Whether processed in an immature or ripe state: the walnut products always promise the highest quality.
